Mobile Library: Kyrgyzstan
by Bishkek School of Contemporary Art
in cooperation with Asia Art Archive
Mobile Library is a periodic initiative organised in partnership with cultural collaborators in different countries throughout Asia to provide a platform for the exchange of ideas. By circulating printed matter in the form of a travelling library and co-organising programmes that activate and respond to the materials, this project builds new possibilities to engage with art as a form of knowledge

Bibliography of Contemporary Art in Kyrgyzstan
As part of the Mobile Library: Kyrgyzstan project, Bishkek School of Contemporary Art team developed a bibliography of contemporary art publications from Kyrgyzstan and Central Asia. The research involved collecting, mapping, and systematising literature published between 1990 and the present. The initiative addresses the limited visibility and accessibility of art-related literature in the region and serves as a foundational resource for future research, education, and archival work in contemporary art and cultural history.
The author-developed educational programme
The author-developed educational programme “History of Fine Arts and Contemporary Art Practice in Kyrgyzstan” is one of the key components of the collaborative project Mobile Library: Kyrgyzstan.

The initiative aims to establish the foundation for a long-term educational programme focused on the history of art and contemporary artistic practices in Kyrgyzstan, enriched by international perspectives on art education and global art histories. A key feature of the curriculum is its case-study approach, drawing on artistic projects developed in Kyrgyzstan to explore contemporary cultural processes and artistic methodologies.

The Mobile Library is one of the key projects of this year. The library as a process: conversations, collective reading, collecting and organizing books. All of this is connected in a single chain of knowledge sharing.
